Keywords Can Hurt Or Help Your Success Online | How To Use Your Words

Keywords, they can hurt or help your success online if used the right or wrong way. While some will think of keywords and “keyword research” something high tech and only for professionals to practice, here we will see just how simple it is.

keywords

There are many practices, opinions and a plethora of information online about how to use and find keywords to help you better target your traffic. Some would say it’s easy, some just can’t seem to get a handle on it.

Let’s simplify the whole process here, especially for you beginners to marketing online, and start choosing our words wisely for the content we will create.

“I Will Wash Your Mouth Out If You Use That Word Again!”

There are no secret formulas for density with your words, nor is there some black hat trick that eventually becomes a bad habit that will help you dominate the search results pages of Google. You will have to work for it.

There are many misconceptions when it comes to not only the way we search keywords and phrases to use, but mostly it is in the way we use them.

There are no real keyword density rules other than, keep it as low as you can without leaving them out at all. Some say to sprinkle your keyword or phrase every 150 words, that is not completely true either, because if it does not need to be there, it shouldn’t be there.

Just by doing a few searches under a few terms you choose, you will see what I mean. Of course in the first paragraph or two you may find them, and the last, but throughout the content you may not find them at all.

This is a real issue for those looking to dominate Google’s search engine through keywords for better ranking. Now I am not saying that they are not a major force for ranking factors, what I am saying is this, what you may have learned over even the last year will no longer be valid…Penguin and Panda have changed the game.

Now I may not be as much of an expert as those at WebContentStudio.Com, but I do agree with them, it is all about using the “right” niche subject words, well, that is what I call them.

Niche Subject Words and LSI…

Latent Semantic Indexing is a process of that search engines use to find “similar” words that are connected with and similar to the keywords or phrase you are using to target your audience.

I like to call this choice verbiage my “niche subject words.” If I am going to be talking about building bird houses and other products and services which I will be selling on my site, I might choose some of the following words and phrases:

  • building a birdhouse
  • creating birhouse
  • types of wood
  • ideal material
  • feeders
  • nesting
  • Blue Jays, Thresh and other bird names
  • best tools to use
  • natural enemies of birds
  • ect…

These are simply ideas for words and, ideas for coming up with other words and ideas to create more content with.

So what does this actually do for you? Well, the one major thing it does is to create an “authority” out of you and your content for the search engines and, most importantly, people.

I don’t know about you, but I would hate to search “how to build a birdhouse” and find nothing but sales jargon and offers. Like you, I would prefer to find relevant information on how to go about building a birdhouse.

Now you may say “well then, how do I sell anything?” Easy, your pages, posts and sidebars should be filled with good links to more content that shows off how to make “different” kinds of birdhouses. What tools are best, the type of wood that lasts longer and, how to really make it safe from natural predators.

“After that, there are solid calls to action throughout the content of your products, services and whatever to help them accomplish what it is they want to accomplish.”

A final Word…

search out and use your words wisely. You don’t have to practice putting your keywords in where they really do not belong, that is simply spamming and you can end up with some negative SEO. You can learn how to do your marketing the right way or, the wrong way.

The only keywords that can hurt you are the ones used wrong, too much or, no “niche” specific words to back up what you are talking about that creates that authority you need.

I suggest this, write like you would talk, this will help you use choose and use your words better and help you find the success you are looking for online.
